The Opening
A new performance collaboration between Avanti Display and Les Grooms for special sites and special events
Avanti Display and Les Grooms are collaborating with Director Hilary Westlake to create a brand new, large-scale performance for opening or closing events that comically explores what an opening event should and shouldn’t be. The premiere performances are commissioned for the reopening of the De La Warr Pavilion, an icon of 20th Century architecture and will be presented as part of the Jour de Fete festival August bank holiday weekend 2005. The show combines the particular strengths, talents and skills of two extraordinary companies working alongside non-professional local performers. The show will maintain moments of theatrical intimacy between performer and audience as well as presenting large-scale spectacular effects.
